Wedding Pia are a type of formal present usually consists of cakes or sweets that are given to the bride's family by the groom to be distributed to the relatives and friends as one of the wedding ritual.
For Hokkien couples, the chosen traditional cake will be neatly wrapped in a box with the Chinese character “?" which means double happiness printed on top of the packaging. These are the four selection of cakes:
- Dou Sha Bing ”???“ (stuffed with green bean paste)
- Shuang Xi Gao ”???“
- Mua Lau (sesame crakers)
- Bi Lau (rice cracker)
For Tio Chew couples, the wedding pia will be wrapped with red colored paper with the Chinese character "?" printed on it , a dragon and phoenix imprint. The inside of the wedding pia includes:
- Dou Sha Bing ”???“ (stuffed with green bean paste)
- Teng-Teng
- Ak-am
- Ruan tang ”??“ (dodol putih)
each box comes with a "goddie" bag and we also provide "Angpao" envelopes for the engagement ceremony
